Rugby Town’s Revive Churches together organized an all faith celebration to dedicate the tournament to God. The event on 13 September included Songs of Praise and as an interactive act of worship. The event was preceded by a Family Fun Time with face painting, games, crafts and BBQ which attracted in excess of 700 people.
Says Revd Dr Michael I Bochenski, Convenor of the REVIVE RUGBY Steering Group, “It is always good when churches leave their own walls to work together in mission! REVIVE Rugby have been planning to engage with the RWC2015 programme here in the birthplace of the game since January. A Fun Day / Songs of Praise event in the Rugby Fan Zone was attended by over 700 people – the stewards told us they did not know so many people were interested in Church these days! A Multi Media quiz chaired by David Chawner saw some 16 teams participate and over 100 attend. Next comes a Light Party for children, a Swing Low Sweet Chariot worship finale and a Youth Celebration. It’s all been so good we’ve almost forgotten the England Wales result!”
The next event that will be hosted by Rugby churches is a Light Party for children, a Swing Low Sweet Chariot worship finale and a Youth Celebration towards the end of the Rugby World Cup.
