Engage 2015

Rugby quiz night held at the birth place of the game

The Official Rugby World Cup fanzone in Rugby Town hosted a buzzing quiz just days before Rugby World Cup 2015 begins. 14 teams competed in the six round multimedia sports quiz. The Master of Ceremonies was Engage 2015’s co-ordinator, David Chawner who is also the Pastoral Director for Rugby Union, Chaplain to Northamptonshire County Cricket Club and Chair of Sports Chaplaincy UK.

Revd Michael Bochenski, leader of Rugby Revive said, “It is always good when churches leave their own walls to work together in mission! REVIVE Rugby have been planning to engage with the RWC2015 programme here in the birthplace of the game since January. A Fun Day / Songs of Praise event in the Rugby Fan Zone was attended by over 700 people – the stewards told us they did not know so many people were interested in Church these days! A Multi Media quiz chaired by David Chawner saw some 16 teams participate and over 100 attend.”

The event was organised and hosted by Rugby Revive, the name for the  churches in Rugby town working together. The event was buzzing as the teams went head to head throughout the 6 round quiz, along with a tie break at the end culminating in a close finish. Well done to everyone involved and especially the top three teams who were separated by 2.5 points.

Results for the quiz are below: First: Rowland, Second: The Arnold Arms, Third: Headless Chickens

The next event that will be hosted by Rugby churches is a Light Party for children, a Swing Low Sweet Chariot worship finale and a Youth Celebration towards the end of the Rugby World Cup.
