An extensive set of resources for churches to use rugby to engage with their communities has just gone live. And there is ‘a lot more to come’ according to Engage 2015 who are behind the project.
The Engage Media Hub’s initial offerings can be found at www.engagemediahub.com. They include ten three-minute testimonies by high-profile Christian rugby players including England’s Billy Vunipola and South Africa’s Ruan Pienaar. There is a video covering the Christian roots of Rugby Union, and evangelistic presentations featuring Roy Crowne and Rico Tice designed for guest events.
There is also a set of videos to help churches make the most of the Rugby World Cup hosted by England this autumn. They show how churches can engage with chaplaincy, family hosting, church, community, and youth work.
Says David Chawner, coordinator of Engage 2015, the initiative helping churches make the most of the coming Rugby World Cup, ‘These versatile resources are there for churches to use without charge. They are idea for a half time team talk, half time during the live screening of one of the Rugby world cup fixtures, and much more’.
Adds David Chawner, ‘This is just the start. ‘We have a long-term commitment to constantly adding new resources over the months and years ahead. And the hub will be developed as a key resource for churches surrounding other future major sporting events.’
The media hub has been created by Engage 2015 in partnership with Christians in Sport, Christian Vision for Men, HOPE, and Scripture Union.
