On the 17th September, 2015, 8.00pm your local time, one day before the Rugby World Cup kicks off in England, Engage 2015 is hosting a Global Prayer Wave. Praying for Rugby World Cup 2015 is an opportunity to cover the tournament in prayer.
The prayer wave is designed to encourage people from all over the world together in groups to pray for the worlds third largest sporting event. By asking people to pray at 8pm their local time and tracking it all over the world a prayer wave is formed. This is an initiative of Engage 2015, and the first prayer wave for the Rugby World Cup was on Thursday 18 September 2014, a year before the opening game between England and Fiji.
Explains David Chawner, Engage 2015’s coordinator, ‘Engage 2015 is providing ideas and prayer topics to meet the needs of everything from a group of friends in a home to a whole church together. The Rugby World Cup is a wonderful way for God’s people to show his love and prayer needs to be at the heart of it all’.
For inspiration on specific areas to pray into, please see prayer wave topics here: http://engage2015.co.uk/resources/prayer-calendar/
The prayer wave will be tracked online through twitter using the hashtag #RWCPRAYERWAVE and then displayed on the Engage 2015 website. Follow the wave throughout the 24 hours before the tournament begins on our interactive map here: http://engage2015.co.uk/events/global-prayer-wave
Join with us and let’s see how God will use this tournament for his glory!
